Marti Porter, Assistant Director / Library Coordinator
Marti Porter joined the Olive Hill Adult Learning Center and Library Inc. in June 2007 as the Center’s second administrative employee. Marti serves two roles at the Center and acts as the Assistant Director and Library Coordinator responsible for community programming, fund raising, and public relations. Marti has been a wonderful addition to the team at OHALC. Marti has been instrumental in the development of many of our new upcoming programs such as Back to School Back to Cool, Drug Free and Proud to Be, along with developing and implementing this year’s summer camp for children ages 4-11 and the continuance of already implemented library programs.
Marti came to us after five years on the Morehead State University campus, where she worked as a College Access Specialist. She has a degree in Business with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems from Morehead State University. Marti works closely with OHALC’s Board of Directors, and is becoming active in many organizations. Stop by the Center to see what exciting programs the library has going on.
Marti was originally from St Paris, Ohio but is happy to call Kentucky home for the past fifteen years, and Olive Hill her hometown for the past four years. “I really love our town; there are so many great people here! I love working at OHALC, I get a chance to give back to the community that I love! I want to make learning fun and reading a pleasure not a challenge. I encourage everyone in Carter County to take advantage of our resources and programs here. I’m looking forward to meeting more great people and developing more programs for the young and the old as time goes on,” said Marti when asked about her position.
